Studio Day is a fun, spontaneous day of creation and fellowship. If you haven't
joined us for one of these, or haven't been to one in a while please come.

As usual with our studio days...no project is mandatory....we each bring our
own stuff to create, and sometimes bring extra so that if others want to join us
they may.

Maureen has graciously agreed to host the next one on June 8th at her home in
Annapolis. A great adventure out of our usual territory!

And perhaps afterward we can venture out into the community for some site-seeing
and dinner.

Mary is heading up an interesting project for those who wish to join her...a group still life will be created
that, once put together (with glue and such) will be passed around to members so
that they may create a painting or other piece of art based on the still life.
It sounds like fun. Those who wish to join Mary are welcome to bring
objects to add to the initial still life.

Here are some of Mary's thoughts:

"...about the still life...I envisioned a piece of plywood about 2 feet in diameter with just enough items on it ranging in height and in a way that it would be good viewed from any side. I would prefer no wine bottles just because that is so traditionally a part of still life...but I refuse to reject anything. The idea is all I am proposing and the size for ease of transferring it from one to another. Also nothing that is valuable so all can be thrown away when we are done. Fabric to cover the base would be good. clear glass is always nice ... a clown face???"

"The idea is for each of us to create a work of art using the same subject matter (the still life) but our own interpretation and our own materials. It is to be done individually not as a group but when we have all completed our individual still life projects we could do a group show."

In addition members may want to prepare a piece for the "Big Show" at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore, coming up in a few weeks. Anyone who is a Creative Alliance member may show one piece. The drop off day is June 14.....Check it out: http://www.creativeal...

See you Sunday!

Ref. group still life project. its a fun idea, which is sounds complicated when you try to explain. When I did it before, three artist each contributed two items, which each of us used to compose our own version of the still life. We got together to share our finshed works and were amazed at how each of us composed the objects, and chose to create the artwork. Its an interesting exercise. see you Sunday

yeah! I have that day available. Looking forward to hanging out in a studio with you all.

Who attended?

    •  Thank you all for coming out on such a hot day...but then this is Maryland, not Maine. I always love to see how much talent and inspiration there can be at one table. Such a diversity of interests! And Jill, what a treat to see your male following.... (Jill was accompanied by her babysitting team of one husband and two grown sons. Impressive.)
    •  Great group of folks. Very friendly. Thank you.
